Our Policy Leadership initiatives aim to inform, influence, and enhance policy settings to foster an inclusive and equitable society. We engage extensively with government bodies, stakeholders, and relevant organisations to advocate for inclusive policies and monitor their implementation. This demonstrates our commitment to addressing intersectional barriers and promoting fair and equitable policies. Below, you can find a summary of some of our consultations. To share your comments on our consultations, please email us at policy.advocacy@multiculturalprofessionalnetwork.com.au
Engagement with government on the digital transformation of workplaces. We recommended developing guidelines to ensure AI and automated decision-making systems promote fairness and equity. We also advocated for training programmes to help employees adapt to an automated workplace, and for research into the long-term impacts of AI and automation on job quality and workforce dynamics, ensuring that policies are data-driven and effective
Collaboration on a recent project with KPMG, the Department of Youth Justice, Employment, Small Business, and Training (DYJESBT), and the Queensland Social Enterprise Council (QSEC). Together, we conducted a comprehensive review of the current state of the social enterprise sector in Queensland. The forum gathered insights on the challenges, opportunities, and priorities for action to foster the sector's growth and continued maturity in Queensland
Engagement with government to emphasise the importance of matching jobseekers with positions that align with their skills, qualifications, and career goals. Our emphasis on this alignment underscores the significance of ensuring that every individual's employment journey is tailored to their unique abilities and long-term goals. Through constructive engagement, we advocated for policies and initiatives aimed at optimising job matching processes
In our consultations, we developed a guideline on race discrimination in the workplace to assist employers. This initiative aimed to provide comprehensive guidance on effectively identifying, addressing, and preventing instances of race discrimination within organisations. Through engagement with stakeholders, we worked towards creating practical and actionable recommendations that promote diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace
In our proactive policy contributions, we focused on fostering collaboration among government entities to support a cohesive and inclusive multicultural society. Our efforts aimed to provide practical guidance on ways for government to work together effectively, ensuring that policies and initiatives promote diversity, inclusion, and social cohesion. We consistently advocated for strategies that foster understanding and respect among diverse communities
In our consultation, we identified key priorities and strategies to advance economic growth and develop a migration strategy aimed at ensuring that Australia realises the full potential of migration. On December 11, 2023, the Hon Clare O'Neil MP, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Cyber Security, announced the Migration Strategy. This marked the introduction of a new vision aimed at rebuilding our migration system for a more prosperous Australia
